Types of Installation

By definition, these bathtubs are all considered “freestanding tubs.” However, there are three types of freestanding tubs to choose from. There are clawfoot bathtubs, free standing bathtubs, and single wall bathtubs.

Clawfoot tubs have made quite the comeback and are highly-coveted for their vintage aesthetic. These types of bathtubs showcase clawed feet on the bottom, rather than a traditional floor-installation base. Clawfoot bathtubs add a bold and opulent statement to your bathroom decor. Clawfoot bathtubs are oftentimes chosen by homeowners and interior designers who are trying to achieve a more classic look.  

Freestanding bathtubs are exactly what they sound like. These stand-alone bathtubs typically have solid bases (unlike clawfoot bathtubs), and the plumbing is installed through the floor underneath, rather than through a pipe in the wall. They are called free-standing tubs because they are designed to sit as a stand-alone bathroom fixture.

Single wall bathtubs are also popular, which are essentially freestanding bathtubs that can be installed alongside one wall.
